Although stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, it will eventually oxidize if exposed to corrosive environments for extended periods. Therefore, regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to maintain its beautiful appearance and prolong its lifespan.

 

Stainless Steel Maintenance Method-Avoid Scratching During Cleaning

When cleaning stainless steel surfaces, be careful not to scratch them. Avoid using detergents containing bleach or abrasives, steel wool, or abrasive tools. To remove detergent residue, rinse the surface with clean water after washing. For dust and easily removable dirt on the stainless steel surface, use soap, mild detergent, or warm water.

 

Use professional cleaning agents.

For trademarks and stickers on stainless steel surfaces, wash with warm water and a mild detergent. For adhesive residue, use alcohol or organic solvents (ether, benzene) to clean grease, oil, and lubricant contaminants from the stainless steel surface. After wiping clean with a soft cloth, wash with a neutral detergent, ammonia solution, or a specialized cleaning agent. If bleach or various acids adhere to the stainless steel surface, rinse immediately with water, then soak in an ammonia solution or a neutral sodium bicarbonate solution, and rinse with a neutral detergent or warm water. Rust caused by dirt on the stainless steel surface can be washed with 10% nitric acid or an abrasive detergent, or with a specialized cleaning agent.

Warm water cleaning.

If bleach or various acids adhere to the stainless steel surface, rinse immediately with water, then soak in an ammonia solution or a neutral sodium bicarbonate solution, and rinse with a neutral detergent or warm water.

Stainless Steel Cleaning and Maintenance Standard Operating Procedures

1. Stainless Steel Cleaning Steps:

(1) Use an all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, or dish soap with a damp towel to wipe away watermarks, dust, oil stains, etc., from the stainless steel surface;

(2) Use a clean, lint-free towel to dry the surface.

(3) Mirror-finish stainless steel does not require oiling, while textured matte stainless steel requires oiling.

(4) Before oiling, clean the stainless steel surface thoroughly. Place the stainless steel oil in a small spray bottle and spray it onto a towel or the stainless steel surface, spreading a layer evenly along the grain.

(5) After oiling, use a clean, lint-free cloth to gently wipe along the grain to remove excess oil and some lint, maintaining a shine.

 

2. Daily Maintenance of Stainless Steel:

(1) For mirror-finish stainless steel, fingerprints, watermarks, and dirt can be removed with glass cleaner or a damp towel, then polished with a lint-free cloth.

(2) For matte stainless steel that has been oiled, fingerprints and dirt can be removed with a clean cloth containing a small amount of stainless steel oil until polished.

3. Working Standard: The stainless steel surface should be bright, free of dust, fingerprints, and stains.

 

4. Precautions:

(1) The towel used should be clean and free of sand particles, and tools should not scratch the stainless steel surface.

(2) The cleaning agent used should not corrode the stainless steel surface.

(3) After cleaning, use a lint-free cloth to wipe the stainless steel surface until it is shiny.
