Characteristics
High strength and good toughness: The yield strength of S22053 duplex stainless steel is twice that of austenitic stainless steel, while maintaining good toughness and being able to maintain its structural integrity when subjected to shock or vibration.
Excellent corrosion resistance: It contains high levels of chromium, molybdenum, nitrogen, and other elements, giving it excellent corrosion resistance, especially in terms of resistance to chloride ion corrosion. It can be used in pipeline systems, chemical processing equipment, and marine engineering in areas such as chloride ion stress corrosion resistance.
Good processing performance, including cold processing and hot processing. In cold processing, such as cold bending and cold rolling, it can maintain good shape and performance; in hot processing, such as forging and hot rolling, it can also be well formed, and its structure and performance stability are good after processing.
Good welding performance: It can be processed by conventional welding methods, and it is not easy to produce cracks and deformation after welding, ensuring the quality of the welded joint. However, filler metal is usually required to avoid excessive ferrite.
Low thermal expansion coefficient and high thermal conductivity: Compared with austenitic stainless steel, S22053 alloy has a lower thermal expansion coefficient and higher thermal conductivity, which makes it have better dimensional stability when the temperature changes.
Application field
Oil and gas industry: Due to the complex underground and marine environment faced during mining and transportation, including high-salinity seawater, acidic formation water, and high pressure and other harsh conditions, S22053 duplex stainless steel is widely used in the manufacture of pipelines, valves, and various downhole equipment.
Chemical industry: Many chemical reaction vessels require materials that can withstand various strong acids, strong alkalis, high temperatures, and high pressures. S22053 duplex stainless steel has become an ideal choice due to its good corrosion resistance and high strength. For example, it is used to manufacture reactors, pipes, valves, heat exchangers, etc., in chemical equipment.
Marine engineering: It is used to manufacture structural parts of offshore platforms, seawater desalination equipment, ship piping systems, propellers, etc. Its excellent seawater corrosion resistance and high strength can resist the erosion of seawater and the harsh conditions in the marine environment, and extend the service life of the equipment.
Construction field: It is used in some building structures that require strength and corrosion resistance, such as bridges, building facade decoration, railings, etc. Improve the durability and safety of buildings while meeting the requirements of building beauty.
Food processing industry: Due to its good corrosion resistance and hygienic properties, it can be used to manufacture food processing equipment, storage containers, etc., to meet the food industry's requirements for hygiene and quality, and ensure food safety.
Heat treatment process
Solution treatment: The heating temperature is usually between 950~1200℃. After solution treatment, rapid cooling is required, such as water quenching, to ensure a balanced ratio of austenite and ferrite, so as to obtain a uniform structure and optimal corrosion resistance.
Aging treatment: After solution treatment, S22053 duplex stainless steel is kept at a lower temperature of 500~600℃ for a period of time (usually 4~6 hours) to promote the precipitation of hardening phase and improve the strength and hardness of the material.
Stress relief annealing: For parts after welding or cold processing, stress relief annealing can be performed. The heating temperature is usually between 850~950℃, followed by slow cooling to reduce residual stress and prevent stress corrosion cracking.
